WISCONSIN: Legal with Restrictions
Under new Wisconsin Stun Gun Laws, which came into effect November 1, 2011, owning and carrying a stun gun or Taser device is considered legal with restrictions. Citizens may purchase, own, carry, and transport these devices if they possess a CCW (Carrying Concealed Weapons) license. Wis. Stat. § 941.295(2g). If they do not possess a CCW license, they may not purchase, but may only carry an electric weapon in their own dwelling or place of business or on land that they own, lease, or legally occupy. Wis. Stat. § 941.295(2g). They may also transport the weapon if it is enclosed within a carrying case. Wis. Stat. § 941.295(2r). The possession or carrying of an electric weapon in any other situations is a felony. Wis. Stat. § 941.295(1m).
